Art in Focus Classes

Saturday, March 6, 2010- New Bern

Saturday, March 13, 2010- Bayboro

from 10:00am - 12:00 noon

(Parents do not need to be present during the 2-hour class.)

 

 

Classes are designed for children with developmental disabilities, but are open to all children who like art!  The classes are offered under the direction of an Occupational Therapist/K-12 Art Teacher. Children must have a developmental level of at least 7 years old.  Children must be able to function in a small classroom setting, with individualized 1-2 (adult to student) ratio.  The classes are held on the first Saturday of each month in New Bern and the second Saturday of the month in Bayboro.

Concepts Utilized Include

·        Heavy work – hammering, woodworking, clay wedging, resistive material manipulation

·        Tactile Desensitization – working with lentils, bark, sawdust, plaster, Papier-mâché, clay, natural materials, etc.

·        Multimedia construction – art creations utilizing a wide variety of materials

 

Cost - $8.00 for our Focus Therapy Students

         -$20.00 for non Focus Therapy Students
